Warm Chocolate Sauce

A hot fudge sauce - great for banana splits (of course!) or on top of ice-cream, or as an added luxury to a beautiful orange cake - provided by Lisa Gunthorpe.

½ cup good cocoa
2 cups sugar
1 cup boiling water
2 tbsp butter
2 tsp vanilla
1 pinch salt
Optional
1 tbsp brandy or rum

Mix cocoa and sugar well, slowly add boiling water.
Put on stove; boil 3 minutes exactly (not too high) without stirring.
Take off and add butter slowly.
Add a little brandy or rum - to note, more you add the runnier the sauce will be.
Add vanilla and salt after boiling.
Cool with lid on.

Makes 3 cups
